Sophia & Christian – A winter wedding at Oddfellows Chester
Sophia & Christian….these two are just totally adorable and possibly the loveliest couple ever! They are such warm, friendly people and from my first meeting with them I knew I was going to love photographing their wedding, especially as Oddfellows is one of my favourite venues.
The day started off at Oddfellows’ apartments, not far from the venue itself. I really enjoyed shooting the preparations in these apartments, as the decor is so quirky and cool, which made for some great photographs. I headed to the apartment where Sophia was getting ready with the girls, whilst my second shooter Joanna headed to photograph Christian with the boys in a separate apartment. It was a lovely morning, full of excitement and giggles, and a total overload of cuteness when Sophia and Christian’s sons came to join us for the final preparations. They both looked adorable in their suits!
I arrived at Oddfellows just in time to catch some shots of Christian looking suitably nervous, whilst waiting for Sophia who was fashionably late! Sophia was walked down the aisle by her son Tom, which was a really touching moment. It was a beautiful, emotional ceremony with lovely readings from the two boys and also the two Mums.
After the ceremony I took Sophia, Christian and the boys out for a walk down to the river to get some natural, relaxed photographs. It was a beautiful, sunny and crisp winter’s day, which was just what they had hoped for, and we were even lucky enough to catch a gorgeous sunset over the river. We couldn’t have wished for better weather in December! We arrived back at Oddfellows with plenty of time for them to mingle with their guests in the bar area before sitting down to their wedding breakfast.
After the hilarious and heartwarming speeches, we headed out onto Oddfellows’ balcony to shoot some creative night portraits, and of course the sparklers came out! Then it was on to the cutting of the cake and the first dance, which was to Iris by the Goo Goo dolls, beautifully played by the fabulous Mac Bros band.
Sophia and Christian’s wedding was brimming with love, laughter, emotion and happiness. It really was a perfect day for a perfect couple ♥
