Matthew and Kate – A colourful, quirky wedding ā The Cruck Barn Appletreewick
I first met Matthew and Kate at their pre-wedding shoot near their home in Sowerby bridge, and it was so great to meet them and their mini baby bump. They are such a lovely, friendly couple and I couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding.
Their wedding took place at the Craven Arms cruck barn in Appletreewick,Ā which is a replica of a medieval barn, nestled in the depths of the Yorkshire Dales. The morning of the wedding was so relaxed and chilled out. They had chosen to be non-traditional and see each other in the morning and get ready in neighbouring cottages, which was great because it meant that I was able to photograph the bridal preparations and also get a few shots of Matthew and his groomsmen getting ready. I absolutely loved all of the jewel coloured bridesmaids dresses and flowers, they were stunning! And the little bridesmaids were just too adorable for words!!
We all walked together from the cottages to the ceremony venue, which looked so romantic all lit up with fairy lights. The ceremony was beautiful and very emotional, and included a pagan handfasting as well as the traditional exchange of rings. After the ceremony I took Matthew and Kate out for some photographs in the stunning setting of the Yorkshire Dales.
Whilst I whisked the bride and groom away, the bridesmaids were all busy decorating the barn with really cute and quirky DIY decorations. I really love weddings that have the personal touch and are unique, and this one certainly was! After the wedding breakfast and speeches, the evening party commenced and the dancing was in full swing by the time I left.
